Terms of Service — LAIS (Legal Professionals)

Version 1.0 — Effective 27 August 2026

These terms govern use of the LAIS platform — the professional side of Find My Lawyer — operated by LAIS Technologies Limited (company no. 17404115, registered in England and Wales), registered office 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX (“LAIS”, “we”). They are a business-to-business agreement between us and you, the legal professional (or your firm, where you register on its behalf). Contact: info@laistechnologies.com · billing: membership@laistechnologies.com · data protection: privacy@laistechnologies.com.

1. What LAIS provides

LAIS gives verified legal professionals access to a flow of potential client matters: anonymised case summaries prepared with the client through our AI-assisted intake, tools to express interest, message clients under pseudonyms, and arrange consultations, and a professional profile shown to matching clients. We are an introduction and technology service. We are not a law firm, we take no part in your retainer, and we make no promise as to the volume, quality, or conversion of matters.

2. Eligibility and verification

You must be a practising solicitor regulated by the SRA or a barrister regulated by the BSB, with a current practising certificate/registration. We verify your details against your regulator's public register before your profile becomes searchable, and we may re-verify at any time. You agree to keep your profile accurate and to tell us promptly of any change that matters: a change of regulator status, conditions on your practice, suspension, or ceasing to practise. We may pause or hide a profile pending verification or where regulator status cannot be confirmed; where we hide a profile we record the reason, which you may request (see the Find My Lawyer privacy policy, §9).

3. Subscription and the introductory free period

Access to LAIS is by subscription payable to LAIS Technologies Limited. Introductory offer: the platform is free for your first six months. We (as management) will decide when the introductory offer ends and may extend it; fees will be announced before they ever apply to you, with at least 30 days' notice, and no fee will be charged without that notice. We reserve the right to change subscription prices at any time; every member will be informed before any price change takes effect, with at least 30 days' notice, and a change applies to you only from your next billing period after the notice ends — you may cancel before it takes effect. When fees begin, payment will be taken through the LAIS website; continuing to use the platform after your notice period constitutes acceptance of the announced fees, and you may instead cancel at any time before they take effect. Billing questions or disputes: membership@laistechnologies.com — we will acknowledge within 5 working days.

4. What the subscription is — and is not

Your subscription pays for access to the platform. It is not contingent on any client instructing you, and we accept no payment per lead, per instruction, or as any share of your fees. Clients pay us nothing, and you owe us nothing in respect of any individual matter. You remain solely responsible for your own regulatory compliance in using an introduction service — including any duty to inform clients how they were introduced to you and the SRA's or BSB's rules on referral and introducer arrangements as they apply to your practice.

5. Client matters and confidentiality

Anonymised case summaries and any client communications are confidential. You may use them only to assess and pursue a potential engagement with that client, and for no other purpose. You must not attempt to identify a pseudonymous client from an anonymised summary, and must not share summaries outside your firm except as needed to assess the matter. If a client shares their identity with you or instructs you, the information you then hold is yours as an independent controller, subject to UK GDPR and your professional duties of confidentiality — our processing of platform data remains governed by the Find My Lawyer privacy policy.

6. The client relationship is yours

Any retainer arises directly between you (or your firm) and the client. Your engagement terms, fees, client due diligence, AML/KYC checks, conflict checks, and complaint handling are entirely your own, conducted outside the platform. We handle no client money and no fees on your behalf. Nothing on the platform — including the AI-generated summary — is a substitute for your own assessment of the matter and the client.

7. Professional conduct on the platform

Deal with clients through the platform courteously and honestly; respond to or decline expressions of interest you have made; do not use platform contact for solicitation unrelated to the client's matter. Clients may review you after genuine engagement; reviews are moderated for legality and relevance, but we do not remove reviews merely for being unfavourable.

8. AI-generated content

Case summaries are AI-assisted, reviewed and approved by the client before sharing. They may nonetheless contain errors or omissions and are provided for initial assessment only — verify everything material with the client directly before relying on it.

9. Our liability (business terms)

We provide the platform with reasonable care and skill but on an “as available” basis. We are not liable for: loss of profit, revenue, or opportunity; the accuracy or completeness of any case summary; a client's decisions, conduct, or failure to instruct; or interruptions outside our reasonable control. Our total aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in that period (or £100 while the platform is free to you). Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Term, suspension and ending

The agreement runs until you cancel — which you may do at any time via the platform or membership@laistechnologies.com — or we terminate. We may suspend or terminate immediately where your regulator status lapses or cannot be verified, where these terms are breached, or where continued access creates risk to clients or the platform, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it. On ending: your profile is removed from search, and data is handled per the published retention schedule (verification records are retained as the privacy policy describes).

11. Changes

We may change these terms and the platform. Material changes — always including any fee introduction or increase — take effect no earlier than 30 days after notice by email. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance; otherwise cancel before it.

12. General

Governed by the law of England and Wales; exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. These terms plus the privacy policy are the entire agreement for platform access. You may not assign without our consent. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stands.
