About LAIS
Technology in service of the legal profession.
LAIS was developed in collaboration with legal professionals and AI experts to address a long-standing gap in the legal profession: capable solicitors who want to grow their practice but have neither the time nor the budget for marketing, and clients who need legal help but do not know where to begin.
Our philosophy
Legal integrity comes first. LAIS is a legal technology platform — it is not a substitute for professional judgement, and it does not intervene in the practice of law. Our purpose is to widen the reach of both sides of the profession: helping lawyers extend their practice beyond their immediate area, and helping clients find the right lawyer wherever they are. We use AI deliberately, where it genuinely improves that process, and nowhere else.
How we use AI
AI is used narrowly and for one purpose: to help a client set out their situation clearly, and to structure that account into an organised initial case report. It does not give legal advice, assess the merits of a case, or make judgements that belong to a qualified professional. Where AI adds nothing, we don't use it.
The gap we exist to close
Legal need in England and Wales is widespread — and much of it goes unanswered.
- 66%
- of adults in England and Wales experienced at least one legal issue in four years
- 38%
- of those received no help at all
- 20%
- of those who did not get help did not think anyone provided help for the type of issue they had
- 32%
- had an unmet legal need
